Gladwin’s Trace Corlew signs to continue football career at Saginaw Valley State

GLADWIN - Gladwin star football player Trace Corlew is headed to SVSU to continue his athletic career, he will be playing defensive back for the Cardinals. This season on the offensive side of the ball he put almost 1,000 yards receiving with 14 touchdowns while running for over 550 yards and 2 touchdowns. On Special teams he returned 2 punts and a kickoff for a touchdown, while making 40 tackles and picking off 2 passes on the defensive side of the ball. Corlew almost stopped playing football when he was younger, but hard work has paid off as he heads to play football at the collegiate level.

“Honestly, in fourth grade, I almost quit playing football and I thought that I was going to be baseball all the way. And then once I actually got eighth grade and then high school, I knew that football was definitely where I wanted to be,” said Corlew. “I think the connections I made there with the coaching staff coach Brian, Coach Brady, Coach Clayton and Coach Mason all kind of convinced me to go there and I like their campus.

It’s like a Division one campus, but obviously it’s a D2 school, but it’s like Division one facilities. So that’s what kind of sold me on it.”

Corlew is a 4 sport varsity athlete this year for the Flying G’s
