Ferris State softball team gets incredible opportunity to begin season in Hawaii

BIG RAPIDS - The Ferris State softball team will get a once-in-a-lifetime experience next week of traveling to Hawaii to open the season.

The Bulldogs will play six games in Honolulu against some Midwest teams and a school from Hawaii. Head coach Jake Schumann has been to Hawaii a couple of times, but many players on the team haven’t and are looking forward to the opportunity.

“I can’t wait. I love the sunshine. I’ve never been to Hawaii, so our whole team is super excited,” said senior Brooklyn Verbeek.

“I probably won’t go to Hawaii again, so it’ll be fun and with all of our best friends, so it’ll be exciting. It’s so much more fun playing in the sun. Everyone feels the same way,” said junior Jadyn Joseph.

In addition to playing games, the team also has a bunch of activities planned.
