Jahmyr Gibbs led the way, and the Detroit Lions defense held the Minnesota Vikings out of the endzone as they clinched their second straight NFC North title with a 31-9 win.
The win also secures the No.1 overall seed for Detroit, as well as a first round bye and home field advantage in the NFC playoffs.
Both teams punted on their opening drives.
The Lions broke the scoring stalemate on a Gibbs run to take a 7-0 first quarter lead.
Minnesota turned a Detroit turnover into a field goal midway through the second to make it 7-3.
The Vikings closed the half with another field goal as the Detroit defense kept Minnesota out of the end zone.
But Detroit capitalized on a Minnesota kickoff mistake, getting Jake Bates into position for a 48-yard field goal to make it a 10-6 halftime score.
Out of the half, the Detroit defense again stood tall, keeping the Vikings out of the endzone on their opening drive.
But Detroit handed the ball right back to Minnesota on Goff’s second interception of the game, and the Viking’s turned that into a field goal to make it 10-9.
The Lions got back in the endzone on the next drive as Goff connected with Gibbs on fourth down to extend the Lions lead out to 17-9.
Minnesota would then miss a critical field goal, handing the ball back to the Lions at midfield to close out the third quarter.
And Detroit would capitalize as Gibbs found the endzone for his third score of the game to put Detroit in front 24-9.
A fourth Gibbs touchdown on the next Lions drive made it 31-9.
Detroit finishes the regular season a franchise best 15-2.
Detroit will face the lowest remaining seed from the Wild Card weekend.
