MCKINNEY (TX) --- The Ferris State Bulldogs beat the Valdosta State Blazers 49-14 to win their 3rd national championship in the last four years.
The first quarter couldn’t have gone much better, on the Bulldogs first drive of the game Trinidad Chambliss had a long run before finding the end zone from one yard out on 3rd and goal. On the next Ferris State drive they went into the bag of tricks as wide receiver Brady Rose threw a touchdown to fellow Wide Receiver Cam Underwood to put the ‘Dawgs up 14-0.
In the 2nd quarter Chambliss found Kannon Katzer down the sideline for another touchdown to make it 21-0, Valdosta would respond with a TD of their own before Chambliss connected with Emari O’Brien late in the half to give the Bulldogs a 28-7 lead at the half.
The 3rd quarter would start great for the Bulldogs as well, Trinidad Chambliss ran in his 2nd touchdown of the day to make it 35-7 just less than 5 minutes into the half. Valdosta would respond with a TD to make it 35-14, but on the next Blazers drive the Bulldogs defense would force a fumble and Tyrone Fowler would scoop it up and run it in to make it 42-14.
To start the 4th quarter the Bulldogs would score again, this time Chambliss connects with Cam Underwood in the back of the end zone to make it 49-14.
After losing their first game of the year the Ferris State Bulldogs win 13 straight and win the National Championship!
