The Detroit Lions have one of their toughest battles of the season thus far on Sunday against Buffalo.
The 10-3 Bills are coming off a loss in which they scored 42 points, while the lions were able to pull out a thrilling Thursday night game against Green Bay.
Sunday’s game in Detroit was also selected as the destination for the NFL Today Show, that will be live from Ford Field.
9&10′s Jake Boss caught up with former NFL receiver and current member of the NFL Today crew Nate Burleson, who was a part of a Lions playoff team in 2011.
“I think this is a huge game for both squads. This is that that moment where you go up against the best of the best and you realize who you are. And at this, at this really crucial point in the season, because in December, I always say that you are the team that you will be in the playoffs.
Like, you don’t have much wiggle room to improve and add wrinkles or try to figure out what your identity is or who your dogs are. This is the moment that decides exactly what’s going to happen in January. On one end, you have the Buffalo Bills. They have shown who they are. They had that big win against the Chiefs at home. They’ve shown that Josh Allen can be an MVP candidate while taking care of the ball.
And then on the flip side, you have the Lions playing maybe the most relevant game in December in team history. We’ve seen Detroit fight out some ugly games, they’ve been through it. So now they just have to step up at home and play against the best team, with the quarterback playing his best football.
So, with the defense being banged up, and how aggressive Dan Campbell has been on fourth down, this could be one of those games where they’re looking at the offense saying we got to score early, often, and big in order to beat this thing” (Nate Burleson).
The Lions and Bills kick off on Sunday at 4:25.
