MAPLE CITY GLEN LAKE-- The Lakers of Glen Lake made the school’s furthest playoff run since 2018 last season, advancing all the way to the quarterfinals before falling to Mount Sacred Heart.
Since that finals appearance, the Lakers have not lost more than six games in a single season but did not reach the same level of playoff success until last year.
It’s a different team this year for head coach Jason Bradford, last year saw five seniors leave the program that made major contributions.
However, the long-time successful head coach of a few different sports is confident in the squad he has, and likes what he’s seen so far from the Lakers after their 2-0 start.
“There’s so much talent on this team with the athleticism that we have: we push the ball well, we rebound well. That’s one thing from last year really trying to work out his rebounding.
But you know I got a good mix of upperclassmen and some of the younger guys on the team, got 11 boys, they can all hold their own” (Jason Bradford).
Benji Allen is confident his senior season can be just as special as last as well.
“We’re with each other all the time and not just on the court or on the field. We hang out outside of school, so I think that plays a big part and chemistry is pretty solid.
I think cleaning up our mistakes and just staying in the gym and (being) consistent, we should make another good run” (Benji Allen, Senior).
