Pickford prepares for state championship game against Deckerville

PICKFORD - The Pickford Panthers come into the 8-Player Division 1 State Championship game undefeated, averaging around 49 points per game and giving up just about 8. The Panthers are led by quarterback Tommy Storey who ran for 315 yards in their State Semifinal win over Inland Lakes. Pickford has only won the state championship once, in 2019 when they were playing in division 2 of the 8-player game, Storey’s older brother Jimmy was the starting QB for that one.

“It’s very exciting. I told Coach Rader when I was in 7th grade that I would try to help bring them back by the time I got up here. We have been playing together forever. We are all good friends and get along really well,” said Tommy Storey.

“There are a lot of similarities even between our teams from 2019 team with just the amount of grit and determination that you see. There was a lot of senior leadership on that team, and you see that same senior leadership with these guys,” said head coach Josh Rader.

Saturday’s state championship game kicks off at 11 A.M.
