BIG RAPIDS - The biggest game of the regular season in division 2 football is this weekend in Allendale as No. 3 Ferris State goes on the road to take on unbeaten No. 1 Grand Valley State. After losing their opening game the Bulldogs have won 6 in a row. GVSU have gotten the best of Ferris recently, winning 3 of the last 4 meetings. Saturday’s game will be the 4th straight meeting between the two teams played at Lubbers Stadium in Allendale. The last time these two teams played GVSU knocked Ferris State out of the playoffs, but FSU head coach, Tony Annese wasn’t unable to be on the sidelines as he was serving a one-game suspension from the year before.
“Well, it’s a lot easier, right, it was a very hard thing to go through, you know, to not be able to be there. As I look back, you know, our season ended, and I want to be there with our guys. I had guys that played with me a long time that I love immensely, so that was the hardest part,” said coach Annese.
Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss will be making his first start against GVSU and at Lubbers Stadium on Saturday, something he’s prepared for.
“I’ve seen it before on the sideline, it’s wild, but I just can’t get so ahead of myself. I got to stay even keeled. My composure has got to be there, and I got to stay calm and out there and can’t let bad plays affect, you know, future plays,” said Chambliss.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 at Lubbers Stadium.
