TRAVERSE CITY - Thursday starts the first day of the Detroit Red Wings Training Camp. This year is the 26th year of the training camp being held at Center Ice Arena in Traverse City. The camp is an opportunity for the players to practice their plays, drills and even play a game.
Red Wings fans who may not want to take a trip down to Detroit have an opportunity to come see the wings before the season starts. There is also a spot outside in the parking lot for a chance to meet the players and get signed autographs.
“Everybody is really intimate with the players. It’s a closer environment. Players are walking around in the concourse…usually all the players come out and sign at least one day. Sometimes multiple days. But it’s always a thrill for the kids when they meet their heroes,” says David Barr, Media Captain Detroit Red Wings Training Camp.
On Sunday there is a Red and White Game where the players will play each other head to head. Get your tickets here.
