Central Michigan get ready for first game of the year against Central Connecticut State

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan Chippewas are gearing up to kick off their season on Thursday at home at Kelly/Shorts Stadium against Central Connecticut State. The Chippewas are coming off of a disappointing 5-7 season in 2023 and are looking to improve that this year. CMU hasn’t won or been at home on the first week of the season since 2020. Preparation for week one is always a little bit different, with the lack of film on you opponent.

“Well, you look at what their coordinators have done and obviously they’ve done a really good job of rebuilding their roster. So, you know, there’ll be a lot of players who we haven’t seen on film. But you know we’re looking forward to open it up at home. That’s only really only happened one other time since we’ve been here and there’s something special about that first game being at home,” said head Coach Jim McElwain.

The game kicks off at 7 PM.
