GRAYLING - Ryan Zaveral and Weston Willoughby, a Traverse City native, have the lead after day one of the Au Sable River Canoe Marathon Time Trials. The pair didn’t row together last year with Zaveral finishing in sixth place and Willoughby in fifth place but are now teaming up and finished at 5:09.76.
“All the paddling felt good. We were kind of surprised when we crossed the line at 5:09. We felt like it was going to be faster, but you kind of live with what you got and we’re going to start the race from there.” Said Willoughby
The time trials will continue on Thursday and Friday
