CLARE - The Leland Comets and Harbor Springs Rams scored regional semifinal victories on Tuesday to setup an all-local regional final on Thursday night in Clare.
In the first game of the evening on Tuesday, the Comets jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead on their way to a commanding 5-0 triumph over Saginaw Valley Lutheran. Max Waldrup scored three goals for the Comets, and Ignacio Creamer contributed the other two goals.
In the nightcap, Harbor Springs took the early lead on a goal by Henry Juneau, but Roscommon responded with a rebound tally by Ben Hamina to send the game into the half tied 1-1. The Rams were able to notch the game-winning goal to take the match, 2-1.
Roscommon sees their season come to a close with an 11-7-3 record.
Division four eighth-ranked Leland (17-4-1) will meet sixth-ranked Harbor Springs (16-4-3) in a regional final at Clare’s Brookwood Athletic Complex on Thursday night for the right to advance to the state semifinals.
