NEWAYGO – Pending approval at tonight’s school board meeting, Newaygo is poised to hire legendary coach Ralph Munger to be their next varsity football coach.
Munger would replace Scott Force, who went 2-7 in his one season with the Lions.
Prior to joining Newaygo, Munger spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Mancelona.
He is most known for his stint as Head Coach at Rockford High School, where he spent nearly three decades coaching the Rams, a perennial Division One high school football powerhouse in the state of Michigan. During his time at Rockford, the Rams won 3 state championships, and finished runner-up twice. He started his coaching career at Frankenmuth.
In the event of approval, an introductory press conference will be held at the school on Tuesday morning.
