McBAIN – The McBain NMC Comets staved off a late comeback to beat the Pentwater Falcons 5-4 in boys soccer on Monday night to advance to the district championship game.
The Comets raced out to a 5-1 lead but gave up three goals late in the second half. Comets starting goalie Blake DeZeeuw was injured in the first half.
Tucker Tossey led the way with two goals in the game.
McBain NMC advances to face Buckley in the district championship game on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Lakeview High School.
Pentwater finishes the season with a 6-7-1 record.
