MACKINAW CITY – The Mackinaw City boys basketball team beat Maplewood Baptist 61-34 on Thursday and the girls’ team followed it up with a 59-52 win over Brimley later in the afternoon.
Mackinaw City’s boys team improves to 2-1 on the season. The Comets previous two games had both been decided by five points or less, a 70-65 overtime win against Pellston and a 75-71 loss to Brimley.
This was Maplewood Baptist’s first loss of the season as the Black Bears fall to 4-1.
The Mackinaw City girls basketball team wore special Christmas jerseys for Thursday’s game. The Comets improve to 4-0 on the season with the win while Brimley falls to 3-4.
The games were a part of the inaugural Christmas Tournament at Mackinaw City High School.
