HARRISON – A new face will be seen on the sidelines for the Harrison boys basketball team.
Scott Hawley has been named the Hornets new head coach.
Hawley has been coaching for years, from YMCA youth league, to high school, and even college athletics at Kalamazoo College.
“I’ve coached everyone from kindergarten to college and played myself so I’ve been around basketball for a long time,” said Hawley.
He’s also an elementary school teacher in the district and is very familar with the competitve nature of the Jack Pine Conference.
“The Jack Pine is an interesting conference. I think it’s an exciting place to be. And we’re going to focus on skill development and trying to make these kids better,” added Hawley.
Last year, Harrison went 5-15. Their last winning season was in the 2016-2017 season, where they lost in the first round of districts in overtime.
The winter sports season is currently on hold, but the Hornets are slated to start the season on January 7 against Pinconning.
