MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Big Rapids Crossroads senior Cameron Carnes recently completed a stellar athletic career that included four years of varsity basketball and soccer.
Carnes was a member of the Crossroads boys basketball team that made program history in 2019 when it won its first Division 4 regional championship.
Carnes will attend Ferris State in the fall, and although he won’t be continuing his athletic career in college, he’s thankful for memories he made at Crossroads.
“Just the people that I hang out with on the basketball team, we came in as a family,” Carnes said. “There wasn’t a time where I didn’t feel like I wasn’t a part of the team, so that’s what made it enjoyable.”
Carnes plans to study HVAC systems with a dream of becoming a line worker.
