COLEMAN – Behind a strong day at the plate from Cassidy Tucker, the third-ranked Coleman softball team rolled to a conference doubleheader sweep of visiting Montabella on Tuesday.
The Comets (20-0, 8-0 MSAC) won by scores of 15-0 and 20-1.
In the opener, Tucker strung together three singles, a triple and an RBI, while Jaden Berthume posted a single, a double and three RBIs.
Kaylie Scott also chipped in with a single, a double and two RBIs.
Laken Berthume recorded the win in the circle, allowing just one hit while striking out seven in four innings.
In the nightcap, Tucker added to her hit total with a single, a home run and a grand slam, driving in the seven runs, while Grace Staley tallied three hits and two RBIs.
Kenzie Miller also registered a single, a triple and six RBIs.
Faith Burden picked up the victory, allowing one unearned run on two hits while fanning seven over four innings.
