TRAVERSE CITY — The historic State Theatre is reopening after undergoing extensive repairs. They shared on their Facebook page that everything has been done ahead of schedule.
The State Theatre, located on Front Street, closed in early February after a roof leak caused damage from the ceiling all the way down to the basement. It caused the venue to cancel the Saturday kids’ films and other showings.
They shared that the State Theatre will be reopening Friday night, March 13, to show Oscar-nominated documentary short films. Saturday they will have Oscar-nominated live action, animation and documentary shorts.
Then on Sunday, they are inviting the community to watch the Academy Awards ceremony live. Admission will be free, but they said they will welcome donations.
The State Theatre plans to resume the TCFF Winter Season lineup on March 17.
