KALKASKA — The Northern Michigan nonprofit 22 2 None will host its “Fight the Fight” Fundraiser on March 10 at Twin Birch Golf Club & Restaurant in Kalkaska. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a percentage of all dine-in and takeout sales supporting free programs for local veterans and their families.
The organization focuses on preventing veteran suicide and providing support systems for service members through connection-based programming. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help sustain programs at Belay My Last Barracks, a dedicated community space located in South Boardman, Mich.

Belay My Last Barracks serves as a community hub where veterans can connect through wellness initiatives, communal dinners and fitness opportunities. These programs provide a space for peer connection and peer-led support within the region. The facility is designed to ensure veterans have a place to gather and find purpose while knowing they are not alone.
Ray McDaniel, the executive director of 22 2 None, said the fundraiser allows the organization to keep its services free for all participants. He emphasized that local support directly impacts the lives of veterans living in Northern Michigan. “Our mission is to fight the fight within by creating spaces where veterans feel seen, supported and valued,” McDaniel said. “When the community shows up, it allows us to continue offering these programs at no cost to the veterans we serve. That support truly makes a difference in lives right here at home.”
The nonprofit operates under the mission “Fight the Fight Within,” focusing on connection-based programming to restore hope for those who have served. Beyond the fundraiser, the organization works to honor service members and their families through wellness initiatives and community events. Community members can learn more about the organization’s local impact and volunteer opportunities by visiting the official 22 2 None website.
