TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Area Public Schools is expected to approve a construction bid of more than $17 million for a new After-school Clubhouse and Multi-Purpose Fieldhouse during a school board meeting Monday. The board is set to authorize Hallmark Construction Inc. as the construction manager for the project.
The facility will be located adjacent to East Middle School and consist of a pre-engineered metal building spanning more than 125,000 square feet. It is designed to house full competition-sized fields for football, soccer and lacrosse, along with a six-lane 400-meter track and batting cages.
The total approval amount of $17,236,000 includes a 9.28% construction contingency, construction manager services and general conditions for construction. Hallmark Construction Inc. organized the project by breaking construction bid requests into 18 separate categories.Funding for the project is provided through a combination of community partner contributions and the 2018 Capital Bond Funds. The total project budget allocated from these bond funds is $10 million.
Of the total bond fund allocation, $650,000 was previously approved by the board for architectural and engineering services.
The remaining costs for the facility are supported by donations from community partners. Beyond the athletic fields, the project scope includes an attached clubhouse, office space, restrooms and storage. Site work for the development will involve the construction of parking areas and site lighting for the property.
The Board of Education meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Monday.
