ALPENA COUNTY — A Roscommon man was arrested after Michigan State Police troopers said they found suspected methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, gabapentin pills and marijuana during a traffic stop in Alpena.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Alpena Post stopped a vehicle about 10:30 p.m. Feb. 19 on 11th Avenue near Park Street in Alpena for a vehicle violation, according to an MSP news release.

The report said the vehicle was initially slow to stop after troopers activated their emergency lights.

Troopers said they were suspicious of the delayed stop and observed additional indicators of possible criminal activity.

Police conducted a consent search of the vehicle, which led to the discovery of about 7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 172 grams of individually packaged psilocybin mushrooms, 23 gabapentin pills, 17 grams of marijuana and an additional 73 grams of suspected methamphetamine concealed inside a bag of dog food.

Police said all suspected narcotics were seized and the driver was taken into custody.

The driver was identified as Gary Herrmann, 55, of Roscommon. He was arrested and lodged at the Alpena County Jail without incident, police said.
