BELLAIRE — Shanty Creek Resort announced a transition of ownership Thursday, saying Shanty Creek Ski and Golf Resort, LLC has acquired the resort from Trinidad Resort & Club, LLC, effective Feb. 26.

The resort said it will continue its family-friendly, affordable year-round offerings and focus on creating memorable experiences under the new ownership.

“We are grateful for the 20+ years of stewardship provided by Trinidad Resort & Club, LLC,” Andrew Reh, Shanty Creek Resort COO and general manager, said. He said Trinidad’s dedication “helped reestablish the resort as a respected destination within the Michigan and Midwest resort industry.”

The new ownership group brings experience in development, food service, entertainment and property management, along with resort and ski operations, the resort said. It also cited the group’s longstanding ties to Northern Michigan and its appreciation of the resort’s role in the Antrim County economy.

“The new owners are a Michigan-based investment group, who are looking forward to working with staff, guests and the community to further enhance the beauty and the 60-year traditions of Shanty Creek,” Harper Sibley, executive vice president of the new venture, said. Sibley said a strategic plan includes hotel updates, a new website and growing the resort’s family-friendly activities.

The current team will remain in place, the resort said, to ensure continuity in daily operations and preserve its history and offerings. The resort said guests may see “thoughtful enhancements” in the future, designed to elevate the overall experience.

“We’re excited to work with the new ownership to continue the traditions that make Shanty Creek a getaway destination for many years to come,” Reh said.
