Alanson man arrested for possession of child porn

EMMET COUNTY — An Alanson man has been arrested by Michigan State Police after an investigation into the possession of child sexually abusive material. Steven Randall Maki, 34, was arrested after investigators say they discovered Maki was viewing the material on the internet.

The investigation was conducted by the MSP Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Authorities initiated the case after identifying the online activity, which led to the seizure of digital evidence from Maki’s possession.

Maki faces four felony charges, including one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and one count of possession of child sexually abusive material. He was also charged with two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

The investigation into Maki’s online activity led to the seizure of digital evidence. Members of the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified that the material was being viewed on the internet before arresting Maki.

The legal proceedings for Maki began in Emmet County. He was arraigned in the 90th Judicial District Court on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
