TRAVERSE CITY — Munson Healthcare Foundations announced a $1 million gift to cardiac care from Traverse City residents Richard and Deborah Pascoe in recognition of American Heart Month.
Richard Pascoe, a periodontist who worked in Northern Michigan for more than 40 years, died in November 2025 and was a lifelong supporter of local health care.
The foundations said he was inspired to make a legacy gift by neighbors Bob and Pauline Young, who are longstanding supporters of Munson.
“We are grateful for this extraordinary $1 million gift and the trust it demonstrates in our heart team at Munson,” Dr. Dino Recchia, Heart and Vascular Service Line Medical Director for Munson Healthcare, said. “Rick and Debbie’s generosity will directly enhance our ability to deliver advanced, lifesaving care for patients across Northern Michigan. Through investments like this, we can continue providing the highest level of cardiac care for many years to come.”
Munson Healthcare is home to Northern Michigan’s most comprehensive cardiovascular programs and services. Through the Webber Heart Center and Traverse Heart and Vascular network, thousands of patients receive heart care at Munson each year.
Pascoe’s wife and children said seeing future advancements in cardiac care made possible by Richard’s generosity brought them comfort and helped them honor his life.
