DRESDEN — Lisa Prestininzi was named this week’s Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education winner.
Prestininzi, a teacher at Dresden Elementary, received a $2,000 check from the Michigan Lottery.
A nominator said their family was thankful for Prestininzi and believed she deserved recognition, calling her someone who was always there for them and a great teacher.
Prestininzi said one of her favorite activities with students is a pajama raffle held once each marking period. She said students earn reward tickets when they are “caught being good kind of thing,” and she collects the tickets in a bucket. At the end of the marking period, she said, students who earned tickets get to wear pajamas and she draws tickets for prizes, including toys.
The Excellence in Education Awards are sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, which said it has provided more than $29 billion to public education since 1972.
