CADILLAC — Consumers Energy will permanently close its Cadillac payment office on June 1, 2026. The utility provider is ending services at the location due to a decline in physical office visits and an increase in digital payment usage.
Over the past several years, more customers have transitioned to digital payment options for faster and more efficient processing. Consumers Energy stated that the move toward these expanded electronic services has resulted in fewer customers using physical payment offices.
The Cadillac office will hold its last day of operations on May 29, 2026. While the physical office is closing, Consumers Energy noted that in-person payments can still be made at other authorized payment locations. Customers are advised to contact those locations in advance to confirm their specific hours, accepted payment methods and any associated fees.
Other non-digital payment methods remain available to customers. A same-day payment can be made by calling 800-371-9811. For those who prefer to pay by mail, payments can be sent to the Consumers Energy Payment Center at PO Box 740309, Cincinnati, Ohio 45274-0309.
The company also provides a mobile app and an online portal where customers can make one-time payments or enroll in automatic billing. These platforms support several payment types, including checking or savings accounts, credit or debit cards and digital wallets. Customers who do not have an online account can register at the Consumers Energy website.
The Cadillac payment office will remain open to the public through May 29, 2026. The permanent closure will follow on June 1, 2026.
