The investigation began on Oct. 25, 2025, after troopers from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post received a complaint regarding property damage and assault. The preliminary investigation found that Hawkins drove his vehicle through the victim’s yard. The vehicle caused damage to the property during this initial action.

As the victim attempted to contact Hawkins during the incident, Hawkins allegedly struck the individual with the side mirror of his car. No injuries were reported following the contact. Hawkins then drove his vehicle into the victim’s vehicle, which resulted in additional damage to the victim’s property.

Troopers compiled their findings and submitted them to the Wexford County Prosecutor’s Office. Following the review of the investigation, Hawkins was charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, also known as felonious assault and one count of reckless driving. Hawkins was arrested on Feb. 2, 2026 and lodged at the Wexford County Jail. Police reported that the arrest was made without incident.

Hawkins was arraigned on Feb. 3, 2026, in the 84th District Court in Wexford County. He is scheduled to return to court for his next appearance on Feb. 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.
