BAY MILLS — The Bay Mills Indian Community celebrated its latest expansion project at the Bay Mills Resort and Casino with a private ribbon cutting and tours of the facility.
The public was invited to attend the main grand opening celebration Friday starting at 3 p.m.
The nearly $90 million project broke ground in September 2023.
Two and a half years later, the resort now has an additional 135 guest rooms and suites with expansive views of Lake Superior, spa services, an indoor pool with splash pad, indoor and outdoor saunas and hot tubs.
Several dignitaries spoke during the event, including Bay Mills President Whitney Gravelle and Bay Mills Resort and Casino General Manager Richard LeBlanc.
“This is the absolute pinnacle of our dreams,” LeBlanc said. “We got together and we said we need more and we have had people knocking on our door for years to say Bay Mills, you need more so we can come and see you. This fullfills that very objective and desire.”
As part of the celebration, former Detroit Lion football star Herman Moore signed autographs and took pictures with fans.
