CADILLAC— The court case against the couple accused of killing Rebecca Park and her unborn baby is moving ahead.
Cortney Bartholomew, the biological mother of Rebecca Park and her husband Bradley back in court Friday morning more than two weeks after their last court appearance.
The Bartholomews were back inside a district courtroom, surrounded by their attorneys, for a show cause hearing that was set to take place, but it was canceled.
The show cause hearing was set after the defense accused the prosecution earlier this month at their probable cause hearing of withholding key evidence, asking the case to be tossed or for their bond to be granted.
At that time, prosecutors had pushed back saying that while there may be more evidence that’s being processed, there was enough to keep Cortney and Bradley behind bars.
The judge agreed and set the hearing for the morning of Friday, the 30th, but at the very start of it, the judge stated that because evidence has been coming in since their last court appearance more than two weeks ago, they no longer need to hold a show cause hearing.
Both parties agreed and a probable cause conference is set for March 6th at 2 pm for the couple.
The judge also requested a hearing to go over why a prosecutor from the attorney general’s office that was requested to be at Friday’s hearing did not show up.
A date for that hearing has not been set.
The Bartholomews is facing a slew of charges, including first degree murder and torture.
They were charged back on December 2nd, just days after Rebecca’s body was found in the Manistee National Forest not far from the Bartholomews home.
Her unborn baby had been cut from her body.
Police are still searching for the unborn baby that Courtney alleges Bradley placed in a trash bag, before putting the baby in a cooler and then in the trash.
She was 38 weeks pregnant at the time of her disappearance.
