OTSEGO COUNTY — Michigan State Police officials said the Gaylord Post has welcomed Siren, the second K9 partner assigned to Trooper Turnquist.
According to a Jan. 20 MSP news release, Turnquist and his first partner, K9 Rip, joined the Gaylord Post in July 2025. Rip is trained in tracking, narcotics detection, article searches and building searches.
Turnquist has now been paired with Siren, a female black Labrador trained exclusively in gun and spent shell casing detection, police said.
The canine team will support Northern Michigan and assist agencies across the state at the local, state and federal levels, according to the release.
