Petoskey — Ricky, a beloved miniature horse, has gone missing in the Petoskey area, sparking a large-scale search involving volunteers, local organizations, and community members from across Northern Michigan.
The search covers a wide range of terrain, including wooded areas, neighborhoods, trails, and private properties. Volunteers are working in teams on foot while using thermal imaging and standard drones to reach areas that are too difficult to access otherwise. Weather conditions, including snow, rain, and ice, have made tracking Ricky particularly challenging.
Community members are being asked to check trail cameras, doorbell cameras, and any unusual signs of activity in their yards. Every tip, photo, or possible sighting is being followed up by search organizers, who are coordinating efforts to maximize coverage.
Ricky is well-known in the community, having participated in therapy programs, nursing home visits, and children’s camps. His presence has brought joy to people of all ages, and his disappearance has prompted an outpouring of support from neighbors, friends, and even volunteers from outside the area.
Anyone who spots Ricky or has helpful footage is asked to report it to the Facebook page: Tip of the Mitt Lost Pets. Volunteers continue to work tirelessly, hoping to bring the miniature horse safely home.
