TRAVERSE CITY — The first of two games of crosstown rivals was a spirited 63-51 win for the Traverse City West boys basketball over Traverse City Central.
The game started with a 12-0 start by West with Central scoring the last six points of the quarter to make it 12-6 after 8 minutes.
The Titans hit a 3-pointer to force a timeout with 2:47 left in the second quarter with a 23-13 lead. The first half ended with three straight steals and layups for the Trojans, drawing within five, 28-23.

Central got within four in the third quarter, but West took the lead back to 10 going into the fourth, 41-31.
West answered any runs in the fourth, moving the lead to 13 after a 3-pointer at the 5 minute mark.
West will host the second game Feb. 3.
