According to a Jan. 7 news release, the ownership change was effective as of Dec. 31, 2025.

Established in 2016, Iron Fish Distillery is a farm-based craft distillery, and expanded its distribution across Michigan and into several out-of-state markets.

The transition is expected to pave the way for continued growth and success in the distillery’s operations.

The Andersons, who co-founded the Thompsonville-based distillery, expressed their sentiments about the transition.

“Creating Iron Fish has been a privilege and one of the most meaningful chapters of our lives. We are deeply proud of what the team has built—of the brand, the culture, the connection to agriculture and the community that has grown around this place.”

Over the past decade, they have worked collaboratively with Wallace and Bolger to shape the brand and establish a recognized visitor destination.

The Andersons believe their colleagues are well-prepared to lead the distillery into its next chapter.

“We believe Iron Fish is well positioned for its next chapter and for continued success under David and Heidi’s leadership.”

The company has developed an estate-distilled spirits program rooted in agriculture and established an extensive wholesale and direct-to-consumer footprint.

Named for the steelhead that journeys up the nearby Betsie River, every step of the Iron Fish soil-to-spirit process occurs on site. The process starts in farm fields where the distillery grows and harvests its own grain.

Milling, mashing, fermenting, distilling and barrel aging is on full display for visitors. Iron Fish also sources bourbon for finishing in barrels from around the world. To date, their library of aged spirits exceeds 2,500 barrels.

Further details regarding future plans will be announced in the coming months.
