DETROIT — After missing the NFL playoffs with a 9-8 season, the Detroit Lions fired offensive coordinator John Morton Tuesday afternoon.
Chosen by Head Coach Dan Campbell to replace Ben Johnson, Morton’s first year is his last with the Lions.
Johnson was hired last year as head coach by the Chicago Bears. The Bears turned it around this year, winning the NFC North with a first-round match up against Green Bay this Saturday.
Campbell took over the offense half way through the year. After a strong start, the Lions lost must-win games to make the playoffs.
