TRAVERSE CITY — Teddy Bear Day Care and Preschool is expanding its services in Traverse City with a new location planned on the Church of the Living God campus.

The new site will be Teddy Bear’s fourth and is expected to allow the organization to serve more than 200 families in the area.
The transition comes after Angel Care’s board of directors sought outside support to address operational challenges. After a thorough assessment and guidance from the state of Michigan, the parties agreed moving management and licensing to Teddy Bear would be the best path forward.
Teddy Bear Day Care and Preschool said quality care is its mission and the expansion will give parents more options.
“Traverse City’s currently and the surrounding area and child care desert,” Anna Fryer, licensee designee, said. She said increasing enrollment at a fourth site would help “reduce that desert.”
Fryer said families should not expect major changes aside from continued quality administrative support. She said Teddy Bear has staff with the credentials to step into day-to-day roles while the organization maintains central administration across all locations.
The new location at the Church of the Living God is set to open in spring 2026.
