Investigation underway after major fire damages three homes in Glen Arbor

GLEN ARBOR — The Glen Lake Fire Department responded to a major structure fire on Dec. 21, 2025, at 5:30 a.m., in the 6700 block of S. Dunns Farm Road in Glen Arbor, Mich.

Three large residential homes were confirmed to be on fire, prompting a response from more than 40 firefighters from various agencies.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found the primary structure fully involved, with fire extending to adjacent homes. The situation was further complicated by frigid temperatures and wind gusts up to 30 mph, which hampered firefighting efforts.

Fire operations continued throughout the morning until 12:30 p.m., when all fires were extinguished. Fortunately, no residents were home in the affected houses and there were no injuries reported among emergency personnel.

A total of 12 different agencies participated in the response, illustrating the collaboration among regional fire departments.

The Glen Lake Fire Department expressed gratitude to their assisting agencies from Leelanau County, Grand Traverse County, Benzie County and the American Red Cross for their support during this incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation as authorities work to determine how such a significant fire originated. Lt. Nate Perdue of the Glen Lake Fire Department noted that the investigation will take time as they gather more information.

Investigations are ongoing to uncover the cause of the fire. Further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
