Consumers Energy: helping Michigan families in need with $250,000 grant

Consumers Energy has awarded a $250,000 grant to the Food Bank Council of Michigan to support a home delivery food program, aimed at assisting those most in need during the holiday season.

The grant will fund a program that delivers protein-rich, shelf-stable food directly to the doorsteps of seniors and families with young children who may have difficulty accessing traditional food banks.

“Consumers Energy is proud to support the Food Bank Council of Michigan with this quarter of $1 million grant,” said Tricia from Consumers Energy.

The program was developed to address the need for food access, particularly for individuals who are unable to visit food banks due to mobility issues or caregiving responsibilities. Tricia noted that while many communities have existing home delivery programs, some areas lack such services, making this initiative crucial.

The Food Bank Council of Michigan will use the funds to distribute boxes containing seven days’ worth of protein-rich, shelf-stable food. These boxes are designed to provide essential nutrition to those who need it most.

Consumers Energy encourages everyone to embrace the spirit of generosity during the holiday season and look for ways to support their community, highlighting the importance of giving back to those in need.
