Car dealerships and MSP team up for Stuff a Blue Goose toy drive

Eastern Upper Peninsula —Area car dealerships are collaborating with the Michigan State Police to bring holiday cheer to children through the annual Stuff a Blue Goose campaign, running through December 15.

The Chippewa County Stuff a Blue Goose Toy Drive is currently underway at Rodenroth Motors, Fernelius Hyundai, Soo Motors in Sault Ste. Marie, and O’Connor’s in Pickford. In Mackinac County, donations can be made at Sarah Jones Ford of St. Ignace. Community members are encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys during regular business hours.

“We truly appreciate the partnerships with local dealerships, the generosity of our fellow Yoopers, and the opportunity to enjoy the great relationships we have with our community members through a fun holiday event like this,” said Lt. Ben Eckola, MSP Eighth District Public Information Officer.

Each dealership features a signature blue MSP patrol car, known as the ‘Blue Goose,’ on the showroom floor, ready to be filled with donations for local children. The nickname ‘Blue Goose’ originated in the 1950s, referring to the state police car’s distinctive blue color and single red bubble-style light.

The Luce County Stuff a Blue Goose Toy Drive recently concluded with Chuck Renze Automotive of Newberry and Newberry Motors collecting many toys for children in the area.
