MICHIGAN — Gas prices in Michigan have dropped by 15 cents from last week, with drivers now paying an average of $2.96 per gallon for regular unleaded.
This decrease in gas prices comes after the busy Thanksgiving travel weekend, providing some relief to motorists as they enter December. The current average price is 5 cents less than last month and 14 cents less than the same time last year.
“After a busy Thanksgiving travel weekend, Michigan motorists are seeing lower prices at the pump as we enter the month of December,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson for AAA-The Auto Club Group.
In Metro Detroit, the average daily gas price has also decreased, now standing at $2.96 per gallon, which is about 10 cents less than last week and the same time last year.
Ann Arbor reports the most expensive gas prices in the state at $3.06 per gallon, while Traverse City boasts the least expensive at $2.63 per gallon.
Motorists are advised to combine errands to limit driving time, shop around for the best gas prices, consider paying cash to avoid extra charges, remove excess weight from vehicles, and drive conservatively to improve fuel economy.
With the decrease in gas prices, Michigan drivers are experiencing some financial relief at the pump, a welcome change as the holiday season approaches.
