CADILLAC — Becca Park’s adoptive mother, breaking her silence for the first time since Becca’s disappearance weeks ago.
Stephanie Park said Becca was adopted along with her younger sister Kimberly and an older brother when Becca was just one year old.
She said says she’s speaking out because she is Becca’s real mom, having raised her since she was a baby.
She said she’s been silent to protect her family, but she wants people to know that Becca had a family, one that loved her dearly and they are devastated.
“We have been silent because we do care. We wanted her found. We did not want a push anybody that would be involved in this way so that she would be able to be found. I never suspected her as running away with the baby. So, we have been preparing ourselves for this outcome,” said Park.
Park said Becca was deeply loved by her family and her mom and dad.
“She was. She was. She had some mental illnesses and some troubles. She was a loving person, but she had her problems. She deserves to be remembered, as the sweet girl that she was when she was younger.
Park said the last time she heard from Becca was on Halloween, discussing Trick or Treating as well as wishing one of her kids a happy birthday.
She said Becca’s two young children, ages three and a half and two years old, are in Stephanie’s care, adopted along with Kimberly’s daughter who is close to one year old.
“She knew she was not able to take care of the boys. So, she wanted to be raised like she was raised in the home she was raised in, with the same loving parents,” said Park.
She said she was silent to keep them away from being traumatized but she wanted people to know Becca came from a good home.
“They were brought up in a middle-class family in a very nice situation. They have grandparents. They have siblings. They have aunts and uncles and cousins and nieces and nephews,” said Park.
Park said what’s made this more difficult is the recent arrests of Richard Falor, Becca’s fiancée and her sister Kimberly Park on charges connected to the case.
Park said she’s been in communication with the Wexford County Sheriff’s office, and they are doing a good job. She said everyone needs to stop with the hate online and let them do their work
“They have way more information than what is out there, which is because they need to make a very solid case. They did not stop working on this. This has never been pushed to the side. There are hundreds of police officers looking for her and doing everything they can behind the scenes,” said Park.
Park also said she appreciates all the well wishes but she’s hoping people will respect her family’s privacy as they grieve and not approach her in public, especially if she has the little ones present.
