Heritage Village hosts 19th-century Christmas event in Mackinaw City

MACKINAW CITY — Heritage Village in Mackinaw City will host its annual Christmas in the Village celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, offering a glimpse into 19th-century holiday traditions.

The event will feature a special holiday service in the historic Heritage Chapel, allowing visitors to experience the timeless message of the season in a setting that dates back to the late 19th century. Guests can enjoy the festive atmosphere with crackling fires, the scent of fresh pine, and docents in traditional attire sharing stories of holidays past.

“With its glowing fireplaces, joyful music, and smiling faces, Christmas in the Village is one of my favorite events of the year,” said Angie Morthland, President of the Mackinaw Area Historical Society. “It’s become a cherished tradition that brings together our visitors, neighbors, and volunteers in the true spirit of the season.”
