LEELANAU COUNTY — Anderson’s market in Glen Arbor has delivered a major boost to local families this holiday season, donating 1,000 pounds of essential foods to Leelanau Christian Neighbors (LCN). The generous donation comes just in time for Thanksgiving, when demand for pantry support traditionally rises.
For Anderson’s Market manager Kyle Anderson, the donation comes from a place of gratitude and a sense of responsibility.
“I like to make sure the people in my county, in my area—the people who provide me patronage seven days a week—are being taken care of,” Anderson said. “I really do care about my customers and the people who live in the area.”
LCN tells us that the number of households seeking assistance typically increases as families prepare for the holidays. The organization also says the generous contribution from Anderson’s Market will make a meaningful difference as they work to provide nutritious options to Leelanau County residents.
Mary Stanton, a leader at LCN, says acts of kindness like this reflect what community is all about.
“I think we should all do what we can for each other… 365 days a year and not just on Thanksgiving,” Stanton said. “When things like this happen—the Andersons decided to do this and make such a big splash—I hope that shows other people that it’s easy.”
LCN continues to welcome donations of canned vegetables, pasta, proteins, and personal care items, as well as financial support to restock pantry supplies throughout the winter. More information about giving or volunteering is available here.
