Cottages at Corning in Frankfort to complete homes with grant funding

BENZIE COUNTY — The Housing Trust of Benzie has received a $50,000 grant from Rotary Charities of Traverse City to complete four new homes in the Cottages at Corning development in Frankfort.

This grant will be used to finish essential site features such as driveways, sidewalks, landscaping and a shared pavilion, moving the project closer to welcoming its first homeowners, who are local workers and families.

This is the second grant Rotary Charities has awarded to the Housing Trust of Benzie, indicating growing regional support for community land trust-based housing solutions in Benzie County.

The Cottages at Corning development aims to provide attainable housing for local workers and families who might otherwise be priced out of the community. The project is designed to address the housing needs of those who teach, care for, and serve Benzie County, ensuring they can afford to live in the area they work. Rotary Charities of Traverse City has been actively involved in supporting community initiatives across the region, with a focus on fostering thriving communities through strategic investments.
