GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA has partnered with the Women’s Resource Center to bring back its cans for a cause food drive and membership promotion.
The YMCA is waiving its $99.00 membership fee for anyone interested in joining who brings in a pantry item such as personal hygiene, baby care or food.
Women’s Resource Center funding coordinator Cindy Lardie said last year’s event brought truckloads of goods to help women in need.
“It certainly helps offset the overall costs that we have, and of course, having food is such a basic need,” said Lardie. “We will help anyone who comes to the door, which I think some people aren’t aware of. If someone comes to the door and they need diapers, that’s something we can help with.”
Cans for a cause runs from Thursday Nov. 20 to Saturday Nov. 22.
