Congressman John Moolenaar voted last night for legislation that includes funding for seven community projects in Michigan’s second congressional district.
“For the last year, I have been working with community leaders to fund much-needed projects throughout the district,” Moolenaar said. “Last night, I included seven of these projects in the bill that reopened the government. These projects, whether buying a firetruck or expanding a childcare center, will provide much needed relief to Michigan families and I am looking forward to seeing them through to the end.”
The legislation includes the following projects:
- Four Lakes Restoration – Edenville Dam Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Project: $2,250,000 for equipment needed for long-term operations and monitoring of the Edenville Dam following the May 2020 flood.
- Central Montcalm Early Childhood Center Project: $225,000 to revitalize, renovate, and expand classrooms for children from infancy through age
- Mason County Road Commission New Facility Construction: $2,000,000 to build a new operations facility to replace the current 85-year-old building.
- Clement Township Collaborative Community Project: $137,000 to rehabilitate the Clement Township Fire Hall with HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and septic improvements so it can reopen as a community center.
- City of Big Rapids Fire Truck Project: $378,000 to purchase a new pumper tanker truck.Gardner Street Wastewater Upgrade in Sparta: $1,000,000 to reconstruct East and West Gardner Street and upsize the sanitary sewer to support wastewater flow from the Applejack lift station.
- Webber Township Lift Station: $750,000 to build a new lift station supporting the reopening of the North Lake Facility in Baldwin.
