GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — Grand Traverse Guns N’ Hoses has announced the beneficiary of their 2026 charity hockey game.
For the first time since they began in 2014, the group has chosen someone outside the Grand Traverse area, Lt. Jonathan Miner from the Springfield Township Fire Department.
Lt. Miner served as a firefighter for 30 years, with his son working as a firefighter in Grand Traverse County and his daughter working as one in Springfield Township.
Lt. Miner died in October of this year at the age of 50.
Board President for Grand Traverse Guns N’ Hoses, Tony Posey, stated that the event is expected to raise between $15,000 and $25,000, with all proceeds going back to the Miner family.
However, he said that the number could be different because Lt. Miner is not from the area.
Posey said that because the family is not local, but has local ties, he is curious to see the turnout.
The board had also talked about additional people who may attend from Springfield Township, according to Posey.
The 2026 Guns N’ Hoses will hold the annual charity hockey game on February 21st at the Centre Ice Arena.
