Nearly 200 line worker crews mobilized by Consumers Energy ahead of storms

JACKSON — Consumers Energy is warning Michigan residents to prepare for severe storms bringing heavy rain, high winds, and possible power outages on Sunday.

In a media advisory the The company said it’s mobilizing nearly 200 line worker crews, staging them in Grand Rapids, Jackson, and Mount Pleasant to respond quickly in areas expected to be hit.

Another round of storms is expected Tuesday.

In preparation, Consumers Energy urges customers to charge electronic devices, prepare emergency kits with food, water, and flashlights,

Consumers Energy also said to unplug sensitive electronics and stay 25 feet from downed power lines.
