Consumers Energy to host free community picnic at Houghton Lake

HOUGHTON LAKE — Consumers Energy will host a free community picnic Sept. 25 to connect with customers and answer questions about electric reliability projects in the area.

According to a Sept. 18 news release, the informal event will run 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Skinner Park, 8555 Knapp Road. Attendees can drop in any time to enjoy a free dinner, bounce houses, bucket truck rides, yard games and other family-friendly activities.

Company representatives will be on hand to talk with customers and provide information on a variety of topics.

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, delivering natural gas and/or electricity to 6.8 million of the state’s 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.

No registration is required. The energy provider is promoting the event through social media and targeted emails and plans to hold similar events in other Michigan communities this year.
