LSSU hockey team to participate in ‘Terry Fox Run’ for cancer research

SAULT STE. MARIE- The Lake Superior State University hockey team will be taking a break from their busy pre-season practice schedule this weekend, and for a great reason.

They are participating in the 45th annual ‘Terry Fox Run’ at 10 a.m. Sunday across the border in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

The Run is an annual non-competitive charity event held worldwide to raise money for cancer research. It’s a special event for the Lakers because they are running in memory of Peyton Smith, the son of Colonel Matt Smith, who has worked with the team on leadership development skills.

After Sunday’s run, the team will focus on getting ready for their first hockey match on October 4th against Stonehill College in Boston.
